Writing for the web
Writing web content requires different skills to those many people are accustomed to. Partly it is layout - very wide pages are almost impossible to read, especially when print is small. It's quite difficult, then, even to stay on the right line and it is tiring to read. Better to create narrower columns as newspapers do. But there's an art to producing the actual words, too.
People particularly hate writing "about us" pages but they are also the pages many of us turn to if we're trying to get more of a feel of the site owners and most especially if we're considering a purchase.
It's estimated by experts that people actually read little more than 20% of your carefully written content - so placement is important, as is getting over the most important points.
There is a lot more to this - but don't take my word for it, think about web sites you've visited, read some content and decided you still don't know what they're on about!
